Motocross Ireland Licence Application

Applying for a licence is very straightforward and can be completed online. There are two types of licences that can be obtained:

  • Competition Licence (required to compete at MCI race events)
  • Non-competition Participant Licence (required to attend any other non-competition MCI events, including practice days, training days and acting as travelling marshal)
Competition Licence (€150)

What you need to do:

  1. Join an affiliated MCI Club. A copy of your current Club Membership Certificate OR your current club membership number will need to be uploaded with your application.
  2. Complete the online Anti-Doping Seminar and upload the digital certificate you receive to your application.
  3. Read the Flag Seminar document and declare that you have read and understood this.
  4. Complete the Medical Form which must be signed and stamped by your doctor, and upload as a scan/photo. Motocross & grasstrack licence holders need a stamped medical certificate every three years.
  5. If under 18, parent or guardian agreement form will need to be completed along with proof of date of birth.
  6. Apply for a Type C licence for Motocross & Grasstrack competition.

 

Adult licence applicants will be graded according to ability by the MCI Motocross Committee and should select the relevant grade in their application form. First time applicants will be graded in Grade C. First time licence holders will also need to attend a practice day held by an MCI affiliated club and complete an assessment by the hosting club before being allowed to participate at a race event.

Youth licence applicants' class will be determined by machine size and age as outlined below.

    Junior 65cc7 - 11 Years
    Small Wheel 85cc (150f)9 - 12 Years
    Big Wheel 85cc (150f)11 - 14 Years
    125cc (2T)13-17 Years
    150cc (2T) / 250cc (f)14-17 Years
Non-Competition Participant Licence (€50)

What you need to do:

  1. Join an affiliated MCI Club. Your current club membership number will need to be included with your application.
  2. Read the online Flag Seminar document and declare that you have read and understood this.
  3. Confirm that you are fit & healthy to take part in non-competition off-road events.
